Die wichtigsten Fragen im Überblick

Despite advancing digitalization, most processes in many businesses still run on paper. The time factor is often cited as the reason why the digital transformation is not being pushed any further. In the rush of everyday work there are simply other topics that take priority. And day-to-day business is running perfectly well as it is.

Because of the coronavirus crisis, however, many businesses now have more time for things that are not part of day-to-day business. So what is still stopping you from using that time to start into a digital future? Do not bury your head in the sand; use this moment as an opportunity to digitalize your business and build a company model that is fit for the future. These three simple steps will help you do it.

Your vision

The starting point for all your thinking can be these questions: where do you see your business in 10 years? What does your ideal picture look like and where should the focus lie? Let these questions run through your mind for a moment. Think about what would have to change to make your vision come true. Digitalization is of course not a project that can be finished in a flash. It is much more a process that should be tackled step by step. The following points serve as a guide to structuring that project.

Step 1: where do we stand?

Start with an analysis of your current situation. Think about which processes still run on paper and could be switched over.
How is working time recorded in your business, on timesheets or digitally? Can your employees work from home, or are the documents they need sitting in the office on paper? These are only examples of the questions you should be asking yourself. To get a better overview, it can help to visualise your company processes.
For this project, draw on your employees' experience from active day-to-day business. Because, hand on heart: who has a better overview of possible weak points than your employees? At the same time, you are not only building understanding for the restructuring, you are also strengthening the sense of team spirit.

In digitalization it is particularly important to bring all employees along and to keep them motivated for the long run. A lack of communication creates fears that can slow the whole undertaking down. To prevent that, our eBook gives you concrete tips. Among other things, you will learn which personality types among your staff you will encounter during digitalization and how to respond to their individual questions, worries or problems.

Step 2: set priorities

Has the coronavirus crisis shown you that working from home is barely possible for your employees, because all the important documents are only available on paper in the office? Then changing that process should be your top priority. The important thing, then, is to put your processes in order. First look at which changes are the most urgent, before you simply start without a plan.

Step 3: and action!

Is your vision of the business in 10 years a progressive, successful operation? You value the personal exchange in the office and in regular meetings, but even a contact ban would not bring your business to a standstill? To record working hours, your employees do not have to check in at the office but can simply log in on their smartphone? Unnecessary bureaucracy and paperwork chaos in the office are a thing of the past? Whatever your vision looks like: work out concrete measures together with your employees to get closer to it. Make sure you go step by step. Only once one change has been successfully implemented should the next one be tackled.
