Münster-based software start-up clockin has won the NRW Innovation Award 2019/2020 from the ZENIT network for its simple app-based solution for time tracking and work documentation.
The competition's patron, NRW Minister for Economic Affairs Prof. Dr Andreas Pinkwart, honoured clockin GmbH for its innovative, practice-oriented solution for time tracking and documentation.
"Cooperation between innovative start-ups and established companies will make digitalization projects a success," said NRW Minister for Economic Affairs Prof. Dr Andreas Pinkwart at the award ceremony. In developing the product, clockin GmbH had worked closely with the Ahlen trades business DiTom Kanaltechnik.
The criteria for the innovation award, which comes with €5,000 in prize money, were the cooperation idea and how it was carried out, the innovative substance of the project, such as whether the product and the process could be transferred to other industries, the expected success of the project and the agility of the collaboration.
The laudatory speech was given by the chair of the jury, Prof. Dr Oliver Koch, Vice-President for Research and Transfer at Ruhr West University of Applied Sciences.
An app instead of paperwork chaos: clockin GmbH makes digital transformation simple.
The start-up has developed a time tracking app that supports trades businesses transparently, quickly and smoothly in recording working hours, documenting work and reporting back at the office. At the end of the month, for example, clockin produces timesheets completely automatically. Back in 2017 the system was already honoured with the Digital Economy NRW award for its particular innovative strength, and it has been winning over customers from all over Europe ever since.
"This award means something very special to us," said managing director Frederik Neuhaus, Silicon Valley-tested and visibly delighted. He has a lot more planned for the future with his fast-growing start-up. At the same time he made it clear that clockin must remain easy to use in future, even as its range of features grows. "These are tradespeople, carers and the like; they want to get on with their work instead of writing notes all day or using complicated applications."
NRW Minister for Economic Affairs Prof. Dr Andreas Pinkwart also praised the exemplary philosophy of the Münster company. With the coming ruling of the European Court of Justice on mandatory time tracking in mind, the start-up offers an intelligent solution that is easy to put into practice.
More than 2,000 companies from Germany, Austria and Switzerland have now signed up with clockin. The clockin app was developed for iPhone and Android devices and can be downloaded from the App Store and the Google Play Store. clockin is billed monthly per employee as a subscription.
